Is there any info on that giant bank of electronic master clocks? They make up the background of John Reardon’s videos and I’ve always been intrigued. Where did they come from? What were they used for? Does John own them? Are they for sale? I’d love a dedicated article on them!

Lucky for you there is one, check the footnote! https://collectability.com/learn/the-worlds-largest-collection-of-patek-philippe-electronic-clocks/

John owns them and has put them on exhibit at Analog Shift too.

MrT, again the highlight of the weak (hearing from you). Seeing that rose 1589 on the Collectability site, I thought of my YG 1516 which is slightly earlier (around 1942-48) which too has the 'welded lugs' and applied indexes to the dial (complete I-XII). Only issue is my guy is 32mm and was found locally here in South Africa (think any PP as rarer than rocking horse 💩). Power to your pencil...

I don’t know if I will ever not love patek. They have made so many watches that are so unbelievable I’m not sure there is any company comparable.

Do modern decisions of the brand affect how you feel about their vintage pieces?

To answer your question - not really!

I think modern patek gets a bad rap. They have lots of pretty awesome offerings - out side of the integrated sports side. They aren’t the same brand they used to be - but I think that’s the case for most brands - and that’s why the collector community is moving towards indies

A veritable wonderland!

Great post, and I find myself frustrated because these beautiful Patek’s are so inaccessible to mere mortals.

the anomaly of the last few years has not gone anywhere. the steel nautilus is still a $100k watch, while almost all of their non-sports models get a little cheaper every month. things only go back to normal if patek increase the production of steel sports-watches, so probably not for a while.

yes but at least it's not 200k!
