Your comment about pocket watches was interesting - I still think they are a hard sell to most “watch” people but there does seem to be an increasing (but still small) number of hardcore #watchnerds who are more interested in horology than hype.

I buy pocket watches with complications I would never wear on my wrist = like quarter repeaters. Fun to play with but no place in my life to actually wear one.

This reminds me of 47th. Watches lose their luster when they’re piled high like a fish monger. I thought Eric Winds commentary was interesting too.

Ah, when the talk was of “value”, I hoped there would be another stopwatch fan. The horological value is not that high (except maybe for good split seconds) but fun per $ is almost second to none in today’s market.

Really depends on what stopwatches you’re into. Some are very complicated even without split seconds. The fun per $ cannot be beat that’s for sure!

WOW! this looks like so much fun - and it sounds like everyone who went had a blast. as a longtime antique mall enjoyer, seeing those parts bins just made my eyes pop out like a Looney Tunes bit... I'll definitely be making the trip next year.

The “bong in a college dorm room” analogy has me like thinking how great of a comparison. Your written illustrations are 👏👏👏👏👏

That Vacheron with the pebbled leather band is unreal. Also the Crash will forever be a grail for me.

I had no idea the "hybrid" Tudor Sub was a thing. You learn something every day!
