The 2 small seconds bubble backs make me yearn for an actually own a Rolex. Oh, let's throw in that Brown Service dial too. Time to go down the brown dial rabbit hole.
I used to have a bubbleback. I regret selling it. They seemed to have gone up dramatically in price. Not so much that I missed out on the rise (although that's part of it), but that now I can't buy one anymore for what I paid at that time
I’m glad you’re still grinding away in Chicago. Cold weather has a way to keep all of us focused. Adam’s collection comes from the heart. It’s clearly authentic to his journey. Your (amazing) photos captured that perfectly. A rarity today when everyone on social media is chasing hype comments and likes. I subscribe to Unpolished precisely because you avoid that.
Not pertinent to today’s post but I Love your nuggets about eBay finds and other random online unicorns that may only appeal to you. Please continue to drop those in when merited (including the pieces that are to be avoided, and why). Communal knowledge is honestly the best part of this hobby/obession and your insight is greatly appreciated. Glad I signed-up early with you & Unpolished Tony.

What a horological feast for the eyes! I too love the look of the bubblebacks but so far I haven’t the desire to acquire one. That Tudor Monte Carlo is stunning. Spending some time away from Hoth getting warm in Aruba where I have encountered quite a few nice newer pieces from the Crown at an AD (Gandelman-nice folks) and lots of used examples from the secondary market. Swiss watches are well represented in this duty free country. BTW-any chance you will do part 2 of the Bubbleback article-the Japanese market edition? That was a great piece of writing.
Love to see Hamilton getting the well-deserved attention of a serious collector, along side top tier brands. Would love to read about what Hamiltons he has!
The collector's taste in straps, slaps.
100p - lot of veblenist, as you might've guessed

It’s funny I’ve talked to my pal Masa who works at Hodinkee Japan, about this. I’m hoping to visit Japan later this year so fingers crossed 🤞
When you go, if you visit Kyoto, check out this shop. http://furukabu.com
Incredible collection! The gold and California dial bubble backs really stand out to me. The 1655 on that light blue just freaking works.
Really cool Bubblebacks! What a niche.

i wanna go back and do a feature on hamilton…his instagram handle is ‘meadowbrook’ which as you might imagine is his favorite model, and mine too
That 5513 is a dream!
That California bubbleback may be the nicest one I’ve ever seen, wow
